To see if it will scratch glass does not prove anything anymore.
The man made synthetics are almost as good as a real diamond.
Only way you are going to know for sure is to take it to a good jeweler and ask them to check it for you. Would strongly suggest you not go to a jewelry store in a mall. Try and find a privately owned one, meaning not a chain company.
By the way, if it looks real to you whats the big deal?

You can see if the diamond is real when it look real to you, when if you want to confirm if it is real or fake diamond you can come out with a test using chemistry's mole concept. If you find it a little complicated, you can actually go and use the physics concept using densities. However, the best way to know is to ask a expert.

A diamond is very hard. Try to scratch it against a hard surface, if it it is not marked in any way, it is probably a diamond. Also, look for bubbles. If it has any, it is probably glass. Hope that helps any.

A diamond can scratch or cut glass. If it does, it's real.
