Internet: Worldwide network of computers and the backbone telecommunications lines necessary to transmit information across the network. You're using it now. The internet is short for INTERconnected NETwork.

Intranet: A private network that functions like the Internet (client/server, browsing, email) but functions only within a company or organization. Email may not be sent outside the network, browsers only work on servers within the network (outside sites may not be accessed, etc.). Not necessarily physically confined to one location, but limited to one entity (a company, organization, etc.)

Extranet -- network set up within a company but which allows customers/clients outside the company to access it. One example of this is Federal Express -- they have a package tracking function that allows customers outside to connect to the company's internal network and track their shipments.

Hope this helps! :-)

Internet is what you are using right now. It allows you to access web pages and what not.
Intranet it within a company or a school. It links all the computers together. Thats why you can print off of one printer from like 40 computers. It allows you to email other users in that network like at school or work.
never heard of extranet.

Internet -Communication of all computers not related to a private network

Intranet-Communication of private networked computers such as a work based environment.

Extranet-Combination of private networked computers that use the Internet as well.

There's a lot more technical details that should be understood here, but basically, that the sum of it.
