25 to 30 is average some women gain a lot more mostly due to over eating it's HARD to not over eat when your pregnant you do get very hungry. I'm 25 weeks i feel sick if i wait to long to eat. You will just have to work harder to get it off after the birth BREAST FED it helps so much with getting your shape back I gained 35 with my 1st breast fed i was my Pre pregnant size at my 6 week check up. I did not breast fed my 2ed it took a year to get in my old clothes i gained 32 pounds with that baby. You'll be fine i have heard of women gaining 60 and 70 in pregnancy. You should not try to lose weight so it's kind of out of your hands untill the baby comes your almost full term now anyway you could go next week or in the nest 4 for sure.

Well it is more than the doctors would like for you to gain, but it happens alot. Have you been checked for Gestational Diabetes? When some women get prego they develop diabetes, just for the time that they are prego and the main side affect is weight gain. However at least you know your baby is getting the nutrients needed. I am 34 weeks on Monday and have only gained 10 lbs. I don't know why but I can't seem to gain anymore than that. That worries me, but just make sure you get checked for gest. diab. It can also cause your baby to weigh alot. My brother was 12lbs cause of it. Good luck, get it checked out! You might also try only satisfing one craving a day and eating healthy foods like Grilled Chicken and Salad for the next few weeks. Also the breast-feeding thing is true.

I have heard of people gaining 50-60 pounds during pregnancy. I was worried about my weight as well. I am only 5'1 and I have gained 21 pounds so far and I am 33 about 34 weeks pregnant. I am heavier. Started out at 200lbs and now 221 and I didnt think that I was supposed to gain but 15lbs, because I am heavy. Anyway, I think that everything will be okay, as long as your doc. isnt worried then you shouldnt be. I hope that everything goes okay for you and good luck!

I don't see anything wrong w/ it. Every woman is different. My sister who weighed 120 before she got pregnant gained about 65lbs w/ each pregnancy and now is back down to 120. 5 pregnancies later.
I was overweight when I got pregnant and only gained 24lbs. I'm still somewhat overweight 11 months later.
If it was really an issue I'm sure your Dr would say something.
Congratulations and Happy Eating!

i gained 50 with my first also the only effect the weight gain had on me was swollen ankles but everything was fine with baby...so long as your health is not effected by it you are fine...the average weight gain doctors say is between 25-35.....but alot of women gain more then that.cravings are a given with pregnancy but you should at lest try to controll it as best as u can...if you cant ignor the craving well go for it but limit your intake of it...good luck!!!!

American guidelines suggest 25-30lbs and European guidelines suggest16-25lbs for weight gain during pregnancy. You need to listen to your body and eat healthy and be smart. Now is not the time to diet, but you also can't go nuts and eat anything you want because you're eating for 2. It will be challenging to get that weight off and breastfeeding does help.Make sure you're staying hydrated, as sometimes we mistake thirst for hunger.Keep healthy snacks around and keep as active as possible, as long as your dr. says that's OK.

It is not considered average to gain this much, but I wouldn't say it is not 'normal'. I gained that much with both my pregnancies...sometimes it just happens. I think our bodies crave certain foods because they need them during pregnancy, just try to keep it in moderation. Breastfeeding will knock alot of it off immediately, if that's an option for you.
Good Luck!!
