If I had to choose between dying from e.coli or give up eating spinach there would be no hesitation.....I say "Bring on the e.coli because "i'm strong to the finish, 'cause I eats me spinach, I'm Popeye the sailor man (toot toot)""

Nope. It's just your sorry luck that only the fresh bagged spinach has the e-coli problem. Soooo, just keep eating that nasty old Popeye canned spinach that your mama says is so good for you.

On TV they advised people to stay away from packaged spinach. Probably best to buy fresh spinach & wash it well before comsumption. It's so yummy in salads!

Thanks for reminding me to check into this. Here are a couple of links:

This one says that it is Dole brand bagged salads, and that lettuce in the blends could also be a problem. Throw out any Dole brand bagged spinach, and be careful of the kind of lettuce that is bagged this way too. Better to buy a whole head of lettuce. It says the problem with these is that they are eaten raw. Foods that are cooked are better,, lettuce is never cooked, but spinach can be washed and cooked. If you do use bagged lettuce, use it up quickly.

The salad greens in question come from the Salinas Valley in California.

Part of what is going on, I think, is that a lawyer named Bill Marler is publicizing this in his attempts to serve his clients.
