wearing a wedding band is NOT going to cause you to get an electric shock. the Human body conducts electricity just as metal does. wearing DRY, UNDAMAGED WELDING gloves will insulate you from your welding current and keep sparks and spatter off of the ring.being a Structural welder i have been zapped many times. never had any problems with my wedding ring.keep dry, wear dry gloves, and stay off your grounded workpiece. as long as your grounded to your machine, a shock hazard exists but it is greatly reduced if using proper safety equipment and a safe approach.
it is disturbing to see so many people giving advise about welding that don't know anymore about it than what they see in their garage or on t.v. or did in high school. as for hands or fingers getting crushed, steel toed boots are just as much of a hazard. think about it. I've seen plenty of those injuries.

I have worn mine for the last two years doing Architectural Metal Fab. and I have never had a problem while welding. I did once get a drill bit caught under it for a second but the drill press was off and i had cut my finger but I would have done that anyway because i wasn't watching what I was doing. More important than worrying about a wedding band is not wearing synthetic clothing( Nylon, Polyester,Rayon, Etc. unless its been treated) because that is gonna hurt a lot more when you catch fire than having you finger pinched under a ring. By the way my ring has actually saved me before from getting my finger smashed... Like in the movie 'The Abyss'

Safety is the first priority in the workplace. the majority of accidents in the work place are caused by the carelessness of the individual. As a welder for an Industrial construction company, I have seen many accidents and most of those were due to carelessness.
I always wear my wedding band at work. I also always were gloves while working. I would suggest to go by your companies policy, its there for your safety. but if you chose to were it, wear gloves at all time while working as you should anyway due to other hazards. example. burns, cuts,......
I assume that these accidents involving wedding bands were caused not by the ring, but by the person having their hand were it should not have been. As for accidents with rings and cranes..........I don’t want to be on the same job site with theses people.
Safety FIRST!!!

Of all these answers, no one considers the possibility of the ring getting smashed or disfigured, even while wearing gloves. It`s a helluva lot easier slipping it off the finger while it`s round, than trying to cut it off when it`s embedded in you finger or what`s left of said member. I`m quit sure the bride would accept the slight pain of you removing the band for a few hours a day over the terrible pain you could possibly experience through an amputation

Yeah about the wedding ring thingy and welding ......
Yeah that's a No No can cause a serious burn on that finger and ruin your ring.
Welders typically use a 220 to 240 hook up even though you may not use all of that it wont take much to bite you

As long as you use proper safety equipment you will have no problem with the wedding band. I wore mine for years until our company came out with the no ring policy.
If you weld without gloves then weld splatter can stick to ring and cause very good burn.

Wedding bands in the work place have caused many accidents and many fingers to be mangled especially with cranes.
