over, under, and around. over a couch cushion or pillow, under the table, and around the chair.

you can make a tunnel out of a box and crawl through it.

put toys in a laundry basket or box and he can try and push it while crawling.

put him in the laundry basket on a blanket and you push it across the floor (my kids loved that).

you can hide toys around the room easy enough for him to find.

make a fort either in his crib or even the table. cover the table with some blankets and put some pillows and toys in there.

you can make your own safe sand box for inside. you can use a box or a pan to let him play in it. but what you do is you get a bowl of cold water. put some drops of food coloring in it and some raw (uncooked) rice in it. let it sit for a few hours (depending on how dark you want the color. you can add more food coloring to make it darker. then when you are done drain the water out with a strainer (not a colender cause the holes are too big) then lay the rice out flat on some old newspaper and let dry completly. when dry he has sand to play in. give him some spoons, cups and bowls and you can teach him how to pour it. plus if he eats it it isn't a problem cause it is all natural stuff so it won't harm him. you can even just use uncolored rice and get a little inflatable kiddie pool and that can be his sandbox. when done playing just sweep or vacuum it all up.

you can make maracas out of toilet paper tubes, foil and some tape with popcorn kernels or rice and have fun shaking it.

you can make cookies and let him pour in the dry ingredients and let him help stir. all with a little help but soon he'll get it by himself.

you can make clay for him to play with out of cornstarch, salt and water. i'm not sure on the amounts but you can go with the feel of it or try looking it up online. under homemade clay. again none of it will harm him.

you can even finger paint. use the inflatable pool for easy clean up and containment of the paint.

again with the pool get some of the balls from toy'r'us for a ball pit and he can have tons of fun in there.

just have fun.

I have a third gear crawler myself. She loves to chase balls, and pull around anything with a string attached to it. For example, the Leap Frog Alphabet caterpillar.

The best thing that we have though is a cardboard refridgerator box. Seriously....call your local appliance store and see if you can have a box. It's cheap entertainment. You could decorate it with pictures or whatever. It will give you something to do while your little one naps and then you can watch her enjoy it over and over again.

Get Elefun. He won't be able to do it yet, but the flying butterflies will keep him really entertained.
Hungry Hungry Hippo is good too, but it has marbles so you'll have to watch him
Get a plastic bowling set. Those are great.
Roll cars back and forth.
Get some musical instruments - pots and pans with a wooden spoon are always a fave

Check in your area to see if you have a program called parents as teachers. They give you lots of ideas to do with baby. If you cant find the program call your local school district, they would know. THe program is from newborn to age 5...(usually) They also do developmental evaluations if u have concerns of any kind...All free of charge thru the school district.

Cars (ones for his age obviously), trains, balls, building blocks, those toys you pull back and they whizz off (a fav in our house), if he's crawling is he trying to pull himself up? if so why not try a small ride on toy - you will be knackered but they seem to enjoy it and once they get the hang of it you can sit and rest for a minute. enjoy.
