You generally cannot be charged for murders by the government that sent you, unless the orders you were given were illegal.

But just because you may be authorized to kill enemy troops on the battlefield doesn't mean you can commit other murders back home.

If you kill the wrong people. You can only kill if your life is in danger. If someone surrenders or is not a combatant and you kill them you will be charged with murder.

if you don't follow their guidelines on rules of engagement during war....then most likely you'll be charged with murder.
