Drive-Ins will co-exist for a while with local theaters. There's a great nostalgia in seeing a movie at a Drive-In. I can remember watching a few movies there as a young child in our small town. I was lucky in that my father fixes Movie Projectors, so we saw quiet a few of them for free.
I believe they will be a fad. The reason that they died out a few years ago are still there. You can't run a show until the sun sets. This makes it impossible to show more than one movie in the summer (when typically teenagers are more apt to stay out). You also have the problem of mosquitos and other bugs getting into your car.
Still, there is something about sitting in your own vehicle with your loved ones. As a mother, it's also more freeing as I can take the baby with me and let him sleep in the car while I enjoy the film. If he were to wake up, it wouldn't disturb the other patrons near so much.

This is more of people rediscovering a part of Americana. Drive-Ins were fun; you could load a car with friends, food, and have a great time while watching a movie. And they were the best for a date, as long as your car had a good suspension if you get my meaning.
The people opening them remember the fun times they once had at drive-ins.

I hope they are here to stay this time. I think it is a great way to see a movie. I agree with the mom who said it is a great option with small children. You don't have to worry about disturbing others. You can also feel free to discuss the movie with the people you're with, which makes it more fun. My kids have no idea what a drive-in is like and I would love to take them if I can find one in my area. I don't think it will affect the theatres that much.

Drive ins are the best.We have a two in my area.It has been a yearly thing for my son and I since he was a little boy.Even though he is now 19,we always make it a point to go to the drive ins at least one time during the summer, just him and I.It is something I hope he will always remember. We used to have alot of them around, but are now down to two,I hope they never go out of business.

we have some drive ins around here, they are popular because they are cheaper than the theater and imo more fun. The movie theater here charges 9.00 for one movie , at the drive in you can see two new movies for 7.00

we have a drive in here where I live. It has been around forever. They have two screens and each shows three movies a night. the price.... exactly the same as a regular theater. Three movies for the price of one! and it is such a fun experience!!!

I used to go when I was a teenager. They tore it down to put in a Wal Mart. I for one will be glad to see them come back. Where else will teenagers get pregnant under the protection of night and diversionary tacticts?
