but getting ready for my wedding i weighed 145,and since i got married i now weigh 175. I don't mind the weight. My dad was slender as i grew up as a kid,but as soon as he retired BAM! he gained of 100 pounds. Does every man gain weight when they get married? This morning I had 3 pancakes,3 eggs, and 4 pieces of bacon, lunch i had Her famous Double Turkey Club, and dinner we had Casserole, which she gave 4 servings. My dad told me to just enjoy the good food and don't do anything but love it and love my wife so should i do this?

i work at a office so that requires me to wear a suit. I now squeeze into them and suck and tuck in my stomach. And one day at work, a button just popped right off. So I had to get fitted for another suit and the guy who did it said "my,my someone has put a few pounds on" My wife and I went shopping before i started gaining weight,i went to the small sizes but she went and got larges and said here you go get these. I was like, they're too big but i tried them on and they were big in the stomach, she went and bought them, and she pulled them out and said "Honey, my cooking has put on a few pounds so here you go and gave them too me. I put them on and they fit around it and the way it tucked in made me look pregnant! I told her A FEW POUNDS?! I went to the doctor and I had gained 32 pounds! but im in perfect health, but now considered obese, and i told him my wife's delicious cooking! shes trying to fatten me up. went up 3 pant sizes.

Sit down and I mean sit down beside her, hold her hand so you have her attention, look her in the eyes, and tell her how great of a cook she is, that you appreciate it, the other men are jealous of the good lunches you have BUT - unless she cooks less and tries to fix meals that are less fattening and quits demanding that you eat it up - she will be looking at you in a casket. You want to grow old with her, have kids with her, watch them grow up, get married, have grandchildren, enjoy retirement with her, etc but it will not happen if you continue eating the way you are. Hopefully, she will listen! Good Luck and oh-Congratulations on the marriage.

YES!! I married a New Orleans man, he can cook. Everything is deep fried or alot of butter. I started taking over the cooking and making healthier meals. He was also supportive when I went back to Weight Watchers after gaining 20 pounds. Plus everyone here drinks alot, and I did too so that doesn't help me either.

This is where the communication comes in.....you say "honey, I love your cooking, you are the best, I am so lucky to have you cook such great food for me but really I am gaining weight, I am not feeling good about it, though I love your food, I just need your help to stop eating so much"!

Wow, what a lucky guy! But, I do see your point. Really, this is fairly easy. Just dip small portions and clean your plate. Praise her on her fine cooking skills while excusing yourself from the table. I am sure she isn't spoon feeding you or forcing you to eat when you don't want to. You are lucky to have a wife who takes good care of you, now you have to be the one who is in control of how much of her fine cooking you eat.
Good luck

Wow, u should consider yourself lucky u have such a woman. It means u are well taken care of. Congrats! To counter the weight gain, u don't have to necessarily refuse the food. Just add exercise.

Why are you letting her treat you like a child? She's your wife, not your mother! If you don't want to eat something she has cooked, tell her you don't want it.

If you know her well enough after two months, you will know what to say to refuse what she's cooked. Or, you could cook with her, and make low-fat meals for both of you. If you tell her tactfully, you won't hurt her feelings, and she might even appreciate it.

Find some healthy recipes at foodtv.com and hand her one. Say "This recipe sounds good. Do you think we could try it this wknd?" Here's a healthy one:

Salmon Papillotes with Fennel, Potatoes, and Olives

1 small fennel bulb, stalks discarded (I prefer leeks for this)
3 medium carrots (1/2 pound)
1/2 pound small red potatoes
1/2 cup Kalamata olives, slivered
2 teaspoons finely grated fresh lemon zest
4 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves
2 large garlic cloves, minced
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 (1 1/2-pound) piece center-cut salmon fillet, skinned and fish cut into 4 square pieces
4 ounces (1 stick) butter, quartered evenly
1 lemon, juiced
Special equipment: a mandoline or other manual slicer, 4 pieces parchment paper, kitchen string

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Halve fennel bulb lengthwise. Remove most of core, leaving enough intact to keep layers together when sliced.
Using manual slicer, cut fennel bulb (lengthwise), carrots (diagonally), and potatoes into 1/8-inch-thick slices, keeping vegetables separate.

Blanch vegetables, separately, in salted boiling water: fennel 2 minutes, carrots 1 minute, potatoes 2 minutes. Transfer fennel and carrots with a slotted spoon to a bowl of ice water then drain well. Drain potatoes.

Toss fennel and carrots with olives, zest, thyme, half of garlic, 2 tablespoons olive oil, and salt and pepper, to taste.

Toss potatoes with remaining oil and garlic and salt and pepper, to taste.

Fold the parchment paper in half along the longest side. Divide potato mixture among centers of parchment squares. Season salmon with salt and pepper and place on top of potatoes, then top salmon the fennel mixture. Add a pat of butter to the package and a squeeze of lemon juice.

Fold the parchment paper up over fennel mixture and crimp the edges. Place packages directly on hot baking sheet in oven and cook 20 minutes. Serve immediately.

I think that you should mention to her that you have put on a few pounds and that as much as you love her food could she prepare you some food that is healthier and not as fattening
