My teacher assigned a 5 paragraph essay, about who is happier, jane eyre or emma woodhouse (from Emma). I have four of the paragaphs written, but I don't know what to even base the last one on. Here's my outline:
I. intro
II. why jane is happier
III. why emma is happy
IV. ?????
V. conclusion – we all want to be happy!
You don't even have to had read the books. I need an idea for the basis of the 4th paragraph. Please help! Thanks!
P.S. I love picking best answers :)

Thank you everyone, you were very helpful!
For the record, I'm taking 4 honors classes this year, including english. I did not ask for people to write the essay for me, I was asking for ideas because my mind hit a blank on that last paragraph.

I would make each of the two paragraphs informational, outlining each of the characters' happiness without making any statements about which one is happier. Then in the fourth paragraph I would do the comparison along with all of my statements about who was happier. That way you have the ability to form complete arguments in a single paragraph and will make things more organized and clear.

I completely know what it's like to be stumped for ideas and sometimes you just need people to help you brainstorm. You're clearly not asking people to do your homework for you - because I wouldn't be answering you if you were!
I'd do something like "happy is as happy does." In the first and second paragraph I'd site REASONS the characters are happy. In the last I'd compare ACTIONS that show which character is happy. As in "Jane proves to be happier when she begins her life again, free from..."
Actually, I have no memory of how that book ends. Or much of anything about it, other than being incredibly bored. I hate victorian lit.
Oh, and remember to always be CONCRETE and SPECIFIC

Write about if you would be happier in emma's or jane's situation. Explain why. Your teacher will love it if you do it right. Good luck : )
P.S. I love picking Best Answer's too.

personally... i would compare the two in the 4th paragraph. if you already did it in the 2nd and 3rd, you didn't make it very clear in your outline. I'm in AP english at my school, so that would be my best educated decision.
you could say, for instance, jane may be happy because of blah blah blah, but emma is happier because etc.. etc...
hope that helped

i would use the 4th paragraph to emphasize your stongest point. if you see emma is that much happier than jane, then write what you see and some sentences to support it. OR use the 4th to compare both of them briefly or use quotes to support your paragraph. hope i helped a little and good luck

Do your own homework, dear. We are not here to bail your butt out. Get off your lazy behind and DO YOUR OWN WORK! If you waste time picking best answers, you can certianly spend time doing your homework. Tired of the lazy kids like you who are ALWAYS trying to get others to do their work. Your parents must be so proud. Someone should tell them what a lazy little thing you seem to be!

i replaced into reading that there is too plenty use of e mail. people are not rather chatting with one yet another anymore. in fact some businesses are asserting "no e mail fridays" and stuff. employers staring at facebook and myspace earlier hiring you. and in case you have irrelevant %. and stuff up you don't get employed. and then the businesses which you would be able to hire to "freshen up" your information superhighway popularity and take down those nasty photos of you blitzed in a bar.
