The Test Pattern but that would eventually go away also then it would just be what was called "Snow". That was a trip! Can you imagine T.V. going off? That is unheard of to the generation of now. I can also remember when we had to actually get up and change the channel by hand!!!!! Imagine that too!!!!

well i grew up without cable in the country in the 70's a test pattern would come on for a few minutes and then it just went blank..............white noise, snow , whatever you want to call it. this still happens in places where cable isn't available (yes they still exist!)

I liked the Indian (American Native) the best & it seems to be the ONE that's kewler than the rest! Unfortunately, I don't yet see the full color version of the American Native :-(

It was called test card. T.V techs used that for tune'em purposes as well.
