What do you consider to be a lot? I make $70K a year and had no experience (writing IT manuals) and I have friends who think I'm rich, and I have friends who think I make a pittance.

It's all relative to where you live as well. For almost all jobs, you will earn more in NYC, Boston, etc than in Bismarck, North Dakota.

In time, it is probably better to find a position that pays well with experience and work out some sort of internship that 3-4 years down the road will get you a lot more money.

Manual labor generally doesn't pay alot - because lots of people are willing to work cheap digging ditches.

Your rate of pay is based on how valuable you could be to someone, and how many others would do the same thing as you - if you are a fantastic singer, you might make it rich without experience, but you'd need to be incredibly talentd and lucky.

Instead of focussing on what it pays, focus on doing what you love - because if I paid you $100k a year, but you had to crawl through shards of glass every day and have the glass pulled out every afternoon by a doctor, eventually you wouldn't come back - so don't be so sure that you'll feel great having your "fingers bleed" every day.

The best way to make money without experience is be an entrepeneur. Find an unmet need in your community and figure out how to fill it (but please don't be a gigalo, it's illegan and you could kill yourself with a disease). Think of it this way, what if you bought a bunch of umbrellas for $1.00 each, and then you stood outside a mall, offering to sell each person leaving an umbrella for $5.00 each, and it was pouring rain - you would quickly sell out and make a 400% profit. You would have just found a way to fulfill a need - heck some would pay $10 if it was really raining (or they really liked your umbrellas). It doesn't need to be high tech or flashy, just find a need and plug it with your service.

Metal Finishing Job Shops. Also known as Plating Shops. For about 10 years, I worked as the plant engineer for a metal finishing company in Boston. Yes, it is nasty and potentially hazardous work, but we were ALWAYS looking for people with no experience, who would just show up on time and try not to come to work hung over every day. It got so bad, due to the shortness of help, that we would start people out at about $12.50 an hour with tons of overtime available. If they were any good at all, they'd be making $20.00 an hour after about 6-12 months. We offered full insurance coverage and free education if they took chemistry classes and maintained a C average.

The thing is, if you have no experience, almost anyone can do the job you are capable of doing, (yes, even hard labor), therefore no one is going to pay you alot.
If you are inclined to do hard physical work, you should look into some kind of trade like rough carpentry or masonry. There are alot of lower paying entry level opportunities where you can learn a valueable trade and eventually make 20-30 an hour, or start your own business.

Go to New Orleans. Last week, the radio told they had a well publicized day to obtain new construction workers. They had jobs with no experience required that paid $20 an hour to start.

ONE MAN SHOWED UP. He was hired for $20/hr.

There are problems. NO isn't a really nice place to live, nor the safest place to live. And, you may well have trouble finding a place to stay at night.

But, good pay with little or no experience.

Join the army and volunteer to get deployed into Iraq or Afghanistan! If you're lucky enough, you may have the chance to shot at Bin Ladin and get the million dollar reward off his head! If you're not lucky you will get tortured and killed, but at least your family will also get paid for that.
