What a tough question.

I am not sure what would end it.. I mean at this point, we, the USA, has gone so far over the line by actually occupying an Islamic nation, that I don't know there is a way to ever end it at this point.

But with that said, a good start would be doing a few things:

1. Get out of Iraq.
- Iraq has a constitution
- Iraq has a government
- Iraq has an elected president
- Iraq has elected governmental officials
- Iraq has a police force

We need to let them resolve their internal issues.

2. Financial appeasement or for lack of a better work, temptation, to Hezbollah and Hamas. Have we not learned that all taking away aid from them does is make them hate us more. Every man has a price. If we flooded them with funding for their infrastructure, do you think they would hate us as much? NO, they would not and it sure would be a lot cheaper than the cost of lives, living in fear and war.

3. Same as #2 for the new government of Afghanistan. They would turn on the Taliban enormously then.

Those 3 are a very good start.

In this day and age, I don't feel that the overall war on terror will ever end. If you are referring to the current war in Iraq, then we must establish an effective, independent Iraqi government before we even think of withdrawing. If not, all of our efforts would have been in vain.

A change in administration would be a good start.

It wouldn't end the war on terror, but perhaps just the fruitless war in Iraq, and free up some resources to fight the terrorists.

Lets do the math. There are 1.6 billion Islamic believers, about half of them are tiny children and women. Then out of that number you have the old and not so able to get around, then lets say you take just 1 percent of those that are left, you come up with about 50 million nuts in this particular idealogoy, that are willing to kill, murder, rape plunder, destroy, and literally blow themselves up for some unknow reasonable explication known to mankind......Its gonna take a bit longer.....just a bit. Hang on to your seat baby its gonna get rough, really rough.

And for those that think I am pointing a finger at Islam, I am not, these are the nuts and dumb hannies of this idealogy that would see it (Islam) destroy too, right along with the rest of the world.

The recognition of the oneness of humanity. Of course we need to find and capture people who are committing terrorist acts but the solution ultimately is working together for positive change in human society and that change has got be based on the oneness of humanity of it will fail.

Some kind of religious shift. A worldwide catastrophe, or culture altering event would do it too.
