Anglo saxons are a mix between the Germanic tribes - Angles and Saxons - that invaded England in the 5th and 6th century. Pretty much anyone of English decent (including a large portion of people in this country) are also of Anglo saxon descent. Because they were Germanic tribes, you could say that they are of German descent, but I think it's more associated with people from England because that's where they settled. Yes, it would probably include many Scottish people, too. What do I think of them? They are my people. I think they're great.

None of the above. Anglo-Saxons are English. Germans are Germanic and the Irish and the Scots are of Celtic descent.

Anglo Saxon usually refers to a white man. But you are correct
in your understanding of the true heritage of those people. I
get confused sometimes because I know Anlgos and Saxons
battled for the British Isles. I think Anglos were Irish/Scottish/
English, and Saxons were French/German. Or they lived in
those approximate areas.

Along the border, where I live, Anglo is an expression which refers to any person who appears to be white, as opposed to Hispanic or Mexican.

I do agree with the very learned comments on the Anglos and Saxons, this Anglo here is just a colloquial expression for white.

Interesting. I don't think of my self as this, but I could...
I know there are Vikings involved and warfare, and time for mixing various peoples around the English channel. Finally peopling the whole island. (Mom's side of family.)

Actually I'm third generation American, so I don't really know. Half came from Germany, half from England (Ellis Island and all) Everyone settled in Ohio. Then I came 1959 (no wise cracks about my age - please.) - but I think it's pretty nice, except when doing my ancestral charts for my son! lol. He's happy because this gives him two more teams to root for England and Germany - during Cup play. And Viking blood, always good for a small boy to have. (Plus he's half Costa Rican and USA - so his bloods moving! lol)
