I would kind of kick the subject around and ask him if there is anyone that he likes. Then you can jokingly say "Hey, I like you." If he gives you a weird face or something, give him a hug or a punch on the arm, start cracking up and say "Um, not like that, dude." Then turn away and bite your lip.

work up the courage and ask him. remember, if he doesn't like you-it will barely make the daily buzz. people won't remember it, and it won't scar you socially. ALSO-dances are great opportunities-i know it's a bit unusual that a girl asks a guy to dance, but heres how it works-if the guy doesn't like the girl, he just shrugs and moves on. but if he does, he should pick it up as a hint that the girls into him.

it's simple- flirt a little. if he flirts back, then there's a hint. if he doesn't flirt back, then act like you were just kidding when you flirted.
