I am getting my old mirena removed soon and and new one put in..I am very nervous as the first insertion just about killed me. Are some DR.s more gentler than others at removing/ inserting than others? I asked my regular DR for something to numb me and he said there really wasn't anything I could take. I was offered some Tylenol 3 by a good friend..would that work ok?

YES YOU CAN TAKE TYLENOL 3, I DID AND I DID OKAY. NOW THE REMOVAL, I DIDN'T REALIZE SHE HAD TAKEN IT OUT, I COULDN'T FEEL ANYTHING. WELL ALL THE BEST OF LUCK TO YA. REMEMBER JUST RELAX AND BREATH IN DEEP BREATHS AND LET IT OUT SLOW, THAT ALWAYS HELPED ME. I GOT MY REMOVED BUT WE ARE TRYING TO GET PREGNANT AGAIN.

I also found the Mirena insertion extremely painful. Take some pain meds before you go, it can't hurt to try. Also maybe something that will relax you. I know it is supposed to go smoother if you are relaxed, but who can relax when getting that done? Good luck to you.

Not to be depressing but..... Be careful about IUD'S my mother had one and she had cervical cancer. The cancer was caused from having the IUD. I know that Dr's. and other people will say your crazy there is no way a IUD could cause cancer but it did. Just wanted to give you a heads up on the IUD.

you bet, that is a good pain killer, you will not be allowed to drive after that though. You always have a right to see another doctor, sometimes it is the device that is just difficult, all the best
