James I of England (James VI of Scotland), had a son succeed him who became Charles I of England. After his execution, the was an eleven year period where Oliver Cromwell and his son, Richard, led the English nation. Charles II, son of Charles I, led England (1660), and was succeeded by his brother, James II in 1685. The last Stuart was Queen Anne, who died in 1714, and succeeded by those of the Hanovers.
