No. I would refer to them as my partner's child, unless they offer me to refer to them as my stepchild.

No just as the kids in general, but more likely by name. When referring to them as "step" you are placing yourself in position that is not your place, if it were you'd actually would be married to your partner.

I just got out of a serious relationship... She and I were together for about 2 years, during that time she had been just as involved as I were watching my son grow up...
She's known him since he was 2, and now he is 5. Alot of things change during that time, especially for a kid. Though we are no longer together, she will always consider my son a part of her life.. and when we "were" together, she would always say that she "considered" him like a stepson, though she would never actually refer to him as such.
So I guess it all depends on your relationship with the kid. My ex loved my son as much as I, and his mom did.

My daughter refers to my BF as stepdad. We've been together 7 years, she's 20. Its just easier for her, he's a great guy.

Future step child it doesn't really matter ask them what they would like you to refer them by and also if she is alive ask the mother/father but im guessing mother would she would like
