This will sound strange but I swear it has never failed. Take a glass of cold water. Stick a butter knife or spoon in it. After a moment drink the entire glass of water with the utensil still in it while holding the end that is sticking out to your temple. It will feel cold against your temple as you drink the water down. But it gets rid of hiccups everytime. I have no clue why. Someone told me that a long time ago and I thought they were nuts until I tried it.

I gotta advocate for the drinking from the otherside of the cup answer. It works everytime and as far as I have seen, on everyone. Just becareful of water coming out of your nose. That does not feel good!
My dad swears by a spoon full of sugar. I know that has worked for me before also, but the other method is almost guaranteed!

Scaring is supposed to work, so I try to make people scare me somehow whenever I have major cases of hiccups. It usually cures, and holding your breath can also help.

Whenever I get the hiccups, my husband alwasy asks me, " What does an Elephant eat?" And the hiccups go away. I have no clue why but it works for me.

One thing that has never failed for me is to bite on a pencil or pen while drinking a full glass of water. In 20 years it's gotten rid of them every time.

This may sound strange but it works..gradually pull on your tongue, there's a nerve in the back of it that somehow stops the hiccups.

Quantum touch energy therapy works, but you need someone there who can do it for you, or else learn it yourself.
I used to hold my breath.
May have to do it 2 or 3 times.
Eventually works.

The best one I have used is to take a sip of water and then a deep breath. Hold your breath and as slowly as you can swallow the water.
