is it true that the hard disks of an ipod fail after a year or so?

If you treat it well, no. Dont leave it in the sun, in cars, in water, below freezing temperatures, and dont have large men sit on it. The battery has a warranty for 2 years. The warranty has nothing to do with the screen.

no but you should always have a warenty on it just in case it does
