Lol, its been popular for around 25 years or more. BIG TIME, it was #1 for a long time back in the 80's and for good reason. Queen was a legend even when they were together. Their guitar playing, Freddie Mercury vocals, etc., groups like that are rare.
Other groups that compare are Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Eagles, etc. Their all Great, not just good. And trust me, Wayne's World had NOTHING to do with their greatness, what an insult.

Queen brought a very unique sound to the rock landscape of the 1970s. And they were undeniably good musicians. The Bohemian Rhapsody car ride sing-along in the movie Wayne's World was classic. Everybody has sung along to it. And, if you don't like one part of the song, it will completely change in a minute.

You say that because you have terrible taste in music. Queen's rock is the measurestick by which all other classic rock is measured. Modern rock can't compete with it. Queen was truly talented (each member of the group had a Masters Degree in Music).

It's popular because of Wayne's World, the fact that it is the quintesentional head-banging song, and because of the old 7up comercials.
And personally, I like it. The lyrics tell a very sad story.

Well it's by Queen who despite the death of Freddie Mercury, are still massive especially in Europe. It's widely accepted that they invented the pop video in 1975 with the release of this song.

I could ask the same thing about a lot of rap songs. It's just peoples personal preferences. I love Queen. I think they are one of the best things that ever happened to music. But that's just me.

You know how long I've been asking myself the same thing....Wow!...I think its simply because back when that song came out no one else had made anything that sounded quite like that it sounded like classical music and rock at the same time...so it was different.

It's so much fun to sing.
Get your friends together, get drinking and start singing. I've loved that song for years. Anything Queen is great.

I personally think it's a beautiful song. There are so many emotions that are summed up in the lyrics, and the music itself.
