The wedding will be in the yaght club for my step grandson and I don't know what is appropriate for a yaght club. I was raised in Veterans Clubs and I have a lot of nice clothes but, I don't know what to wear? He is really worried that we might embarrass him.

good lord how shallow of him. anywho. it depends on the time of the rehearsal, and the formality of the event. obviously, the rehearsal dinner is not as extravegant as the wedding itself, but it still has its own standard. I would check with the club first, see if they have any guidelines for what wear on the premises. generally for a rehearsal dinner a nice dinner or casual dress is alright.no need for a floor length dress, calf, knee, or just above the knee is fine. or if you're more comfortable dress pants and a nice shirt. Other than that, you are older than him and I'm sure you know how to dress yourselves. All you need to worry yourself with is enjoying the wedding. I hope you have a good time :)

Well what does the invitation say? Black Tie - Formal - Casual - Elegant. Also at what time is the dinner. All that you have to take into consideration. And why not calling the yacht club and asking what is appropriate for the type of setting. I would wear a 2 piece (jacket & skirt/pants) something elegant and different that what you would wear on the day of the wedding.

**Also do me afavor and smack that grandson in law of yours for being so stupid an worring you about embarasing him. That isn't a nice thing to do to grandparents. OK

i might ask the bride via fact she many times has an thought of the kind of dresses the eating place accepts. some dinners are greater formal and a few are very informal. Ours became in between...maximum wore a skirt and supreme, summer season gown or high quality pants and an excellent shirt.

Wear either nice dress slacks and a blouse, or a knee length dress. If its higher the inlaw family might have something to say if thats what you are worried about. Why is he embarrased? HE IS THE ONE THAT HAS TO LIVE WITH YOU! I would address that first!
