Not much with the hard drive versions. THe nano has doubled it's battery usage to 24 hours in between cycles and has a new/tougher design. The shuffle is less than half the size of the old one and comes with a clip (I really like the new shuffle.)
Save your money and get a 2nd gen Nano and download the linux video player for it to unlock video mode. (works fine, apple just locks out video mode on the Nano to make you buy the more expensive versions.)
