brighter screen, longer battery, bigger hard drives, search feature, new headphones, comes with all 9 games from the store, and its 50 dollars cheaper.

Not much with the hard drive versions. THe nano has doubled it's battery usage to 24 hours in between cycles and has a new/tougher design. The shuffle is less than half the size of the old one and comes with a clip (I really like the new shuffle.)
Save your money and get a 2nd gen Nano and download the linux video player for it to unlock video mode. (works fine, apple just locks out video mode on the Nano to make you buy the more expensive versions.)

Simple. The new one costs a lot of money that you don't need to spend if your old one works perfectly fine.

the old ones are bigger than the new ones which are thinner and the new ones hold more songs

Well the difference is i guess maybe they come in other styles(i don't have an ipod)and they maybe come with more songs i guess........
