If I were you I would close my eyes while the doctor is working. I do because there are too many things happening too close to my eyes which causes me to react, when I close my eyes the doc is able to more comfortably work. Things go a lot smoother that way...

I usually have my eyes closed, but one time I had a root canal and was able to watch the procedure on a screen. Kinda creepy to think about, but actually had a calming effect.

I keep mine open. If he is right in your face and all you can see is him/her then I will close them. In the past six months I have had three fillings done, two cleanings and got all of my wisdom teeth pulled. So open made it easier. Hope I didn't freak you out. good luck

I watch tv while my dentist is working on me, never had any problems with things flying into my eyes.

Me ~ I close them. Not out of fear but it's just weird having your mouth wide open and someone so close looking in it.
