I would recommend the book "The Covenant" by Beverly Lewis. It has romance in it and it would not have been a book I would normally pick up, but it is part one of a series and am now sorry that I did not pick up the rest of the series when I saw it available. It takes place in an Amish community and showcases the daughters of an Amish man. I look forward to reading the rest of the series to see what happens to Abrams daughters.

Try Tryst by Elswyth Thane (written in the 1930s) and sooooo romantic. Take a look at the rave reviews on amazon.com.

The classic Gone With the Wind might fit what you're looking for. Although I haven't read the recent sequel Scarlett, I'm told it's pretty good.

I loved Vanity Fair but I guess you wouldn't call Becky Sharpe "old fashioned." But I loved the book.

Anything by Anya Seton. She wrote historical fiction that all have some romance in them. Her heroines are all strong women with interesting lives.
