Simplest path to your answer would be turning 1 ft into x meters, then squaring that value.
1 ft = 0.305 m
0.305 m * 0.305 m = 0.093 m^2

2.54cm = 1 in
30.48cm = 1 ft
929.0304 cm^2 = 1 ft^2
.09290304 square meters = 1 square foot
(about a tenth a square meter gives one square foot)

if 1ft = x meters then 1ft^2 = (x)^2 meters squared i dont know the value of x offhand but regardless given y ft^2 then there are y/(x)^2 m^2. this is true of all dimensional conversions
1. if you are given B units^n and need to know how many of A units^n there are first find how many of units of A are in units of B (ie feet in yard, oz in grams etc) then divide B by this value raised to the nth power (ie divide b feet^2 by 12*12=144in^2 to get square inches in a sqaure foot)

Well, let's think about this...
1 inch = 2.54 cm = .0254 m
So...
1 foot = 12 inches = 12 * .0254 = .3048 m
So...
1 foot * 1 foot = 1 square foot = .3048 * .3048 = .09290304 m^2
So 1 sq ft = .09290304 sq meters.
