Get your degree or better in some specialty field. Work hard for a decade. Get very good at what you do and get known for it. Then quit and do consulting work. There is some legal stuff you have to do about forming a company and learning to do your own billing and collections, but otherwise, I LOVE IT, and get to spend lots of time with my eight year old. She has two stay at home parents, and unlike most people that I have heard of that get on each other's last nerve when they are together all the time, we really function nicely together. He is the business manager of my consulting business. We crack each other up a lot. Other than my daughter's school schedule, we are pretty much free to go whenever and wherever we want.
We were very frugal and invested a lot of money and lived well within our means. We do take at least one nice long vacation every summer, and are free to take up hobbies and activites we are interested in. We still give to charitable causes.
I still get job offers from time to time, might be somewhat higher income, but then I would not be my own boss.

Who among us doesn't have some regrets in how we approached something in our lives? Rather than focus on the lack, focus on the abundance that is in your life. What makes you think that your friends have it so much better than you? They may look at you and see someone who doesn't live beyond their means, is doing something they love, has a outstanding support system and a great girlfriend to boot. Something we should all aspire to have in our lives, but sometimes forget about in pursuing the tangible. If they were to hear you, they might be asking why you don't see what is clearly in front of you. I agree that money shouldn't be the measure of a person. Count your richness in the experiences that make you the person you are, the blessings bestwoed upon you in that you have friends who don't pre-judge you. Regret? Who has time for it? What purpose does it serve? All we have in life is this moment. Not yesterday's moment. Not tomorrow's moment. If you aren't happy with the direction your current status is, then do something about it. Perhaps that is what your friends did. After all, how many of us are currently doing what we thought we would when we were in high school/college? You still have time.

You need a subsidiary income.
Work with a Patented Product around the world, one which is Scientifically Validated, has tens of thousands of scientific papers written about it, and is peer reviewed. It cannot be bought off the shelf.
This product serves the largest and fastest growing market place to-date.
There is no such thing as a "get rich quick" scheme anyway, you know that, and this certainly isn't one. Nobody likes it because it works, it is called a "disruptive technology".
If you want some more info, please don't hesitate to contact me. You have nothing to lose by letting me pay for the phone call.

My career choice has allowed me to have plenty of time with my children... although I'm a man, you will find the pay to be the same for women in my field (unlike the practice in business, law, and medicine). You'll be home early enough to fix dinner and you'll have the majority of your evenings to spend with your children. You will rarely, if ever, work on Saturday or Sunday. You'll also have about three months with your children. You probably guessed it: I'm a teacher. Granted, you won't make much money, but you'll have time with your children... and when you consider that value with your kids, you'll find out you're very wealthy indeed.

Once you have valuable experience you can be a consultant or agent and work with flexibility from home. (real estate, selling any item, nursing consultant, coding consultant, technology consultant, etc)
