Stretch thoroughly before any exercise. Walking a short distance before breaking into a run or doing some other type of warm-up will help prevent cramps and most importantly help prevent injuries.

stay hydrated (fellow runner here) with only water. Flavored water tends to give cramps and dont have too much. Also breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth(even before you get a cramp. Also if you have a very bad one gently massage it with the hand on the opposite side of the cramp and lift the free arm up and bend it over your head..........confusing i know but it works

Controlling your breathing does the trick for me. Breath in through your nose, not your mouth. And if you do get a cramp, put your hand on your head and walk like that, it helps you breath better and alleviates the cramp. Don't drink too much water before running either.

You have to stretch and drink lots of fluids before, during and after your run. Make sure you also have enough potassium in you diet. A good source is bananas.

you should make sure to drink up before and after you run. also, cramps go away as you get more fit, so after a while, they will dissapear.
it all comes with more endurance
good luck!

Eat bananas every day, and sing a song or a cadence like you do in the army. That helps with your breathing.
