Are they dangerous pets? I have an excellent Vet. etc, so medical care is no problem. Can they be purchased from a pet store?

Wild animals should never be kept as pets. They are not happy, and can be dangerous to you and your neighbors.
That's why it is illegal in almost all areas.

My father found a coyote pup and raised it. He said she was one of the best dogs he owned. She never turned on him or became snippy in old age like most dogs have a tendency to. That was a long time ago and even though it was probably illegal even then, the laws weren't enforced like they are now. I'd look into the legality of it first. I doubt it is legal but, I could be wrong.

They are not a reliable animal. Even if you were able to buy one, you would be required to have a permit in addition to a correct enclosure. A coyote would not be well suited to living in a household situation like a dog. In the wild they are always in competition for place and resources. They would be doing the same thing in your household...not good. They should be left to zoos, mother nature, and wildlife sanctuaries.

NO, they're not legal pets and YES, they're dangerous -- they're practically fearless and sometimes they carry rabies.

And no pet store that wants to keep its business licence would even consider selling them.

They are wild animals and cannot be domesticated, although mixed pups raised domestically sometimes make good pets. They are very adaptable to living around humans even as wild animals and it is rare that you would see one - they are very cryptic. They can be very dangerous, especially in groups, and can carry rabies.
