My 1997 pontiac Grand Prix with a 3.8 V-6 got almost 29 miles a gallon highway. If the Chevy Has the 3.1 motor or 3.4 motor almost 30 miles a gallon. And both motors get about 21 in town.

Our car gets about 26 miles per gallon...but the truck gets less...Like maybe 16 or 17 miles per gallon! Not too great...but if anyone wants to buy it for me, I would love to have a Hybrid!

1997-2003 models:
22.5 mpg (2.4 4cyl. engine) or 18.9 mpg (3.1 V6 engine), as says consumer guide:
http://images.google.nl/imgres?imgurl=http://images.consumerguide.com/autoreview/400x266/1997-2003-Chevrolet-Malibu-97123331990105.JPG&imgrefurl=http://auto.consumerguide.com/Auto/Used/reviews/full/index.cfm/id/2299/act/usedcarreviewphotos/&h=266&w=400&sz=27&hl=nl&start=19&tbnid=Y_p0fl6f5yetPM:&tbnh=82&tbnw=124&prev=/images%3Fq%3D%2522chevrolet%2Bmalibu%2522%26svnum%3D100%26hl%3Dnl%26lr%3D%26safe%3Doff%26sa%3DN%26as_qdr%3Dall
Newer model:
Chevrolet themselves says: 33 mpg.
In the real world however, this probably is very hard to get, unless you drive rather slow and with consistent speed.

Alternative sports cars which use less fuel:
http://www.greenconsumerguide.com/transport.php?exec=Y&type=Sports
(approx. 32 mpg.)
Alternative fuel efficient cars:

(approx. 46 mpg.)
