A man is given a certain amount of time to get exactly 4 gallons of water. He is at a water fountain, left with only a three gallon jug and a five gallon jug. Time is running out. How can he come up with the 4 gallons using only the water and the two jugs given to him? To make it more challenging, what movie did I get this from? Beefisgod you would have gotten the points, but as I recall the movie was known as Die Hard with a Vengeance, not Die Hard 3. Hamletoed, I believe you are the winner, but I am going to find out for sure within the next 4 hours.

Ok....
This is fromDie Hard With A Vengeanceand theriddle is solved as follows.
Fill the 3 gallon Jug with water from the Fountain, Transfer this into the 5 Gallon Jug.
Fill the 3 gallon jug again from the fountain and top up the 5 Gallon jug to the top, empty the five gallon Jug. Tip the remaining 1 Gallon from the 3 Gallon Jug in to the 5 gallon jug.
Fill the 3 gallon jug once again from the fountain one last time, and add this to the 1 gallon already in the 5 gallon jug. And hey presto you now have 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.
