or you can literally e mail that person to request that

Try this site. They have an option in the "Search Field" to search by email address only:

If that does not work try this site:
http://www.reverseemailsearch.org/
It's not a free site, but it does allow you to try it out for free. If you only need info on one email address -- this should fit the bill.
