How large, and what kind of files? Text and word-processing files compress very well with programs such as 7-Zip. Graphics, video, photos and sound files don't compress so small. And is it truly neccessary to send the files via the internet? Copying them to CD and mailing the CD is still pretty efficient. So what if your recipient won't get the CD for a couple of days? It'll take you that long to get answers here.

Emailing large files is always a problem, whether you're using a client liek Outlook, or web mail. What I do instead is use Yahoo messenger. It can send files up to 100MB in real time with a drag and drop feature where you drag files off your desktop into a conversation window.

From there it gives you a % complete status message and it's really fast.

Hope this helps.

uuencode/uudecode
uuencode .. run by you the sender breaks the files up into several small ascii files.

you the sender then just email them .. as many at takes...

then the reciever saves them to disk and runs
uudecode to put them back together.

A bit of a bother. but one can send enormous files this way.
Better if you can fly a website, ftp site or ssh site that the other person
can use.

Basically you can't, most email programs limit to like 20-40 mb on the very high end. My reccommendation-if the person you are sending it to you lives near, just put it on a CD or DVD or even a flash drive.

If both you and the party you are sending to have and know how to use file-splitting software you could send the files piece by piece.

winzip can break files into some parts too,,, if you miss that
or search hjsplit.exe, free byte

you may consider, if using dial up connection, in some country it is cheaper to just post it on dvd /cd (physically)
