The united state alone feeds more of the world than I think you realize. So if the things we use to produce, were to be adopted by other countries, we could produce far more. There is no such thing as world hunger. Just poor distribution of what we have. Too many 3rd world dictators sticking a finger in the pie so to speak. So the correct answer to your question is two possibilities.

A) the sun burns out.

B) geneticly engineered bio weapons kill the food production.

C) disruptions caused by war.

Expect the disruptions caused by war.

It has been estimated my some (not all ) anthropoligists that the world has seen populations in the past of about 12 billion. I believe we have about 8 billion now and far better technology. So with things like french intensive and hydroponic and all the roof gardens in india, we could support a lot more. don't let the zero population growth people scare you. We can support a lot more than we have now.

> When will the worlds food supply be gone?
Never. It's self-renewing. I suppose it will be gone when the world itself is gone, which will be in about 5 billion years, give or take.
> will there be too many people for the earths resources to support?
No. It's a self-limiting process. Eventually the human population will come into equilibrium with the renewable resources. I don't know when that will happen -- but I hope it happens before 2050.

Fortunately for us, food is a renewable resource. Unlike petroleum, which will some day run out, or at least deplete beyond any reasonable rate of replenishment, food is abundant and renewable. The more important question is when will we decide that people dying of hunger is something we will no longer tolerate on our planet? The equitable distribution of resources, including food, is a problem that has been wrestled with for years. Maybe you are one of the people who will make a difference.

I believe that things will start really getting bad when oil supplies run out. Afterall, crops are harvested through the use of oil, not only in the tractors but in the fertilizer as well. This planet already has too many people at 6 billion est. Even if we start using hydrogen or ethenol made from corn, you still need petrolium to make those things. People need to wake up and start conserving and saving our planet or else the downward spiral could start as early as in a decade. I weep for our children. : (

There is plenty of food for everyone. People starve because of distribution problems caused by politics, usually in the form of war or class structures.

There is enough agricultural lands to feed everyone, and food is a renewable resource, so there is no reason to think the food will run out.

We have roughly 7 billion people on this planet right now.

The max population this planet can hold, is 13 billion.

The end of the world is December 21st, 2012, according to the Myan Calendar- which is about the time we hit 13 billion people.

Throw in the Christian beliefs of Christs immenant return, the end is very near
