They're really asking you to give them a reason why they should hire you. Why do you stand out from all the other candidates? They want you to sell them on all your skills, abilities, and work characteristics.

If you read any books about interviewing, they'll tell you to sit down and make a list of all your qualities that you can use as selling points to an employer (hard working, very detail oriented, very organized, great communication skills, work well with others, etc.). You'll also have to come up with examples that show you have these skills. Examples can be things from previous jobs that show you work well with others, for example.

But the best way to answer this question is to look at the job description before the interview. Look at what they're really looking for. Look at each point they list. Then match yourself up with that point by point. And think of examples from previous experience to prove each point.

Once you have that, you can tell them things about yourself that exactly match what they're looking for.

Be honest. If they hire you based on your answer, you have to be able to deliver. If you only have a few skills, tell them. Be sure to let them know that you are capable of learning more, and who knows what the limit can be if you're given the chance. If you can offer them a lot, tell them, and do whatever it takes to deliver. Just make sure you don't promise the moon and deliver a moon pie, and you'll be ok. I used to supervise about 50 people, and I have found that many people can do more than they think if they are given proper leadership and direction, provided they take their work seriously.

Hard work and appreciation for the job I have. The rest would depend on the type of company you are.

Why-- are you looking for a worker? I've been looking for employment for a minute. I'm game.

You answer the question. If you don't have an answer, you're probably not fit for the job.
