I have one eye that is much better at seeing than the other. My left eye (my bad eye) is nearsighted, and my right eye (my good eye) is just fine. My father has the same issue. I would have 20/20 vision, if my left eye was as good as my right. I do not have a lazy eye. Does anyone know if there is a specific name for this problem, or is it just one eye being worse than the other? Thank you!

Yes, my right eye is dominant, and when I was shooting rifles, they put tape over my protective eye glasses, but my eye isn't just dominant, it's bad.

anisometropia- unequal refractive power in the two eyes. It is quite common.

You don't have "lazy eye" if the poorer eye is correctable with a prescription. If that eye is still (for example) 20/100 WITH a prescription, then you have amblyopia, or lazy eye.

Not all eyes are alike..that can be pretty normal. Now, do you see 20/20 out of both eyes even with correction? If you do, that just means you have an eye that needs a little bit of correction ( if it's nearsighted is known as myopia and farsighted is known as hyperopia) and another one that doesnt (emmetropia).

If one eye sees 20/20 and the other one doesnt reach 20/20 vision even with correction is called amblyopia.

I hope I was able to answer your question. Best of Luck!

A Lot of people would be jealous of you! Big eyes and big lips are right now what seems to get a guy looking at you (I know because my sister has the same issue) There are some tricks when it comes to makeup wearing that can help you. Wearing eyeliner is a great tool for this! If you want to make them smaller, eyeliner will create a deeper shadow along with your natural shadow (ex. the sockets of the eye where the lid and crease are) i would suggest doing a smoky eye if you like dramatic looks, because this is known to make a sort of "cat eye" look which will slim your eye. and in general just putting the eyeliner all around your eye will make them smaller. :) hope this helps! :)

lazy eye is the common name. You need to wear glasses or the dominant eye will take over. The opthalmologist had me wear a patch over my strong eye for a month in the eves then wear glasses all the time.

I have a dominant eye, my doctor said that before the age of 1 if there is an eye better than the other, it will become more dominant. I have a friend who is blind in one eye, we call him 'your eyeness'

I took a rifle class and learned that one eye is actually dominant over the other. Don't know if that's the case with you though...

This condition is called Anisometropia. The official definition is: a refractive error which exhibits a notable difference in the prescription from eye to eye.

This is very common.

I have the same problem and go to a very thorough team of eye doctors. They don't seem to think it is odd and have never mentioned a name for it. They just say "one eye better than the other."
