You're myspace account can come back and bite you in the butt.
I have a friend who lost a job because she put some, well......"pictures" of herself on her myspace page.
A company she was interviewing did a background check on her and came upon her site and these "pictures" (you can imagine what the subject matter was) and passed her up. She didn't get the job.
This stuff will follow you, even as you get older.

It's safe, as long as you don't do something stupid like you were saying, such as an address or even a phone number. Still listen to your parents, but try to negotiate with them and see if they'll let you do it and let them know (in a mature manner) that you're aware of the dangers and safeties of myspace. They might let you back on.

Basically on a blog, u write about what u feel like! About ur family, ur hobbies, ur school, studies, ur job, ur children, ur spouse, ur political views, or celebrities or maybe promote ur business-anything u want!
Due to the easy availability of online publishing tools, even an average internet user can start a blog.
so the question is do u have sense enough to not put up any sensitive info on ur blog?
if u do, welcome to de world of blogging :)

Not Blog ...
You sound underaged ... trust your parents. There are way too many bad things that happen to young female bloggers, especially on Myspace. You are not missing anything. Trust me.

Why don't you start at www.neigo.com, try it out online. This has very user friendly interface. It’s simple but also very useful. Nice interacting tool that allow you share your thought with your online friends. Also you can insert as many as pictures you like from your photo album
http://www.neigo.com
You can do both blog and upload your photo images for free here. They have very good security for images and blog post. If you set your album or post as private, other user can not see your album's images or post unless you allow them to see it. Best of all, the message and feedback feature allow you to contact your friend or other user directly easily. Also you can set your post as draft only for you to read. After you sign up, your URL address will be "username.neigo.com". Easy to remember and you can share it with your friends. Customize themes and title allows you to set up your personal style for the interface. Also they have very good interacting tools such like message and feedback that allow you contact to other user freely.

I don't blame your parents. Why not use http://freewebs.com or http://blogger.com/start provided by Google. I got to warn you though, Blogger.com dosen't isn't really concern about which users catergorize their adult sites.
