Its following the same pattern but now on two fronts. And we will leave ultimately when the price is high enough because the people we're fighting live there and have no place else to go. We simply cannot kill them all. Thats why the Russians left Afghanistan. And we've upset the balance in Iraq and that will go on and on.

no. the politics & bureaucrats today won't ever allow it. for one thing, bush, like him or not, is "pussyfooting" around. this is not a full out war because bush wants to protect an image he really doesn't have much of in the western civilization. the casualty numbers slowly grow yes, but only by maybe a dozen on a bad week. now, if we were to stop playing around, & send in more forces, & start to carpet bomb towns & cities, maybe it might escalate to a slightly larger fraction equal to 'nam. but that will never happen. so stop worrying about it being the next Vietnam. it has a look more like the Korean war-at it's worst- & a reputation that is far worse than Vietnam!

Only if the liberals get their way.
A better comparison is the Russian Afganistan war lasted over a decade before the Russians just quit.
If the liberals get their way not only will this war last a very very long time we will be attacked in the US several times and tens of thousands of innocent Americans will die then we will just quit and go home.

It's fixing to get that way in no time. If it does, I wouldn't be surprised in the least. I can't believe that the rest of this country was stupid enough to vote for the president even after all of the crap he's pulled. He don't care about the poor(or the middle class) citizens who voted for him thinking that he'd do something to make this country better. This country is in a sh*thole because of that nincompoop. He's only making this country better for his fellow cronies and the rest of the 1% who make up the upper class.

i doubt it, to reach 50,000 casualties, we'd have to stay in Iraq for another 75 years. That's an average of 2,000 deaths every 3 years. That's assuming there isn't a cataclysmic event such as nuclear detonation, but then if that happens, all bets are off and our retaliation would put a quick end to things...one way or another.

... i personally think the situation in iraq is totally going according to plan ... think about it ...they obviously want to stay in the middle east and take over the whole region for several reasons ... that being so its easy to deduce that the unrest in iraq is not only allowed but most likely instigated as an excuse to stay ... anyone that thinks the US wants to pull out of iraq and the middle east is an uninformed uneducated country bumpkin idealist with no grasp of what is going on in the world.

Yes...the trauma to those in battle and the training to loose their humanity yes...it already is worse. "Terrorism" vs. scaring us into submission so that the big boys can have the upper hand. Imagine 3 three year old little girl being targeted as a "TERRORIST". If the people up above think they can scare us into doing what they want we dwindle our GOD GIVEN ANCENSTOR EARNED RIGHTS. I think STOP BEING AFRAID.

I fear we are treading on very thin ice. Bush is just itching to bomb Iran's nuclear facilities. Once he does, look out. World war 3 will be a reality.
