'Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."'

BBC News has the speech.
He was quoting a speech attributed to Byzantine Emperor Manuel II Paleologus, given in 1391, and using it as a starting point for a dialog.

Amazing how many people did not read the entire speech, but just chose to focus on an excerpt.

It shows why taking a statement without its context can be extremely misleading and one can draw the wrong conclusions.

Tony quoted it accuracy, but let us remember, the Pope was accurately quoting a King from the 14th century during a theological discussion on the importance of keeping violence out of religion. Now all fools out there think about this, if I accurately quote Bill Clinton, "I did not have sex with that girl." Does it mean I did not have sex with that girl or that I approve of Bill Clinton? Try using that gray stuff stuck between your ears.
