Dixie, who decides that they deserve it? Can I? 'You called me a b*tch!' Is that a good enough reason for me? Yes! You are tortured. If you give someone the authority to decide that someone deserves to be physically and mentally abused, well, that is just beggining to be abused.
There was this mayor from Canada, I guess he would be called an Arab-Canadien? Well, Canada called us and said, "You know, he might be a terrorist, we arn't sure. There could be something suspicious about him. Why don't you check him out? The moment he got into our airport, he was taken and put into a secret prison, where, without a lawyer or even a call to his family, he was kept for 11 months, being tortured. He was innocent and an outstanding man. Did he deserve that? There would be no one to contradict such mandates because it is all secret. We won't tell people that we are torturing their friends, incase they are terrorists. "You took Senator O'Rielley? He went missing 3 years ago!"

It's hard to believe that you and the others (most of them) are all worried about the terrorist? ? Don't you understand that with any war the enemy is always interrogated......It's not as bad as you think............It has to be somewhat painful to get them to talk and they do.............On the other hand it sounds like all of you don't care that the way they interrogate is to just behead people and that's it.., there is no talking! They'll just cut of your head..........You don't get upset when they do that to our people, our soldiers, or any other soldier.. Why doesn't that upset you ???? We have gotten so many of the bad guys(terroist) because some of the others ratted on them...yea! I don't understand how you can be on the side of the terrorists.
Now when they do something to someone in your family, will you change your mind? This is to keep them from doing that....To find out what they have planned and to stop it...........Duh

Yes, I believe it and I know why he wants it. He doesn't care if our citizens may be subjected to this kind of treatment in other countries because he knows he won't be among them. On the one hand we're given rosy reports of how we're winning the "war on terror", and at the same time the president wants more leeway to abuse and interrogate prisoners. If we're winning, why do we need harsher interrogations and military tribunals? Something is very fishy here.

The Geneva Convention laws are there to protect people, here in this GREAT COUNTRY, the USA, was founded on such rights, for Bush to try and get congress to pass such laws, makes him no better than those that have not followed the rules of the Geneva Convention in pass wars.

I basically exempt the US from having to follow existing treaties. And that's legal, because Congress has that authority.
It's an insanely stupid idea. But it's legal.
And the reason he's in such a hurry is that he doubts the makeup of Congress is going to be quite the same come November. So, he wants to get the laws passed now, probably because he doesn't realize that a new Congress could change them back later.

I can't believe people are worried about mistreating terrorists. Do you have any clue how they treat their prisoners of war? Abusive treatment of terrorists is an oxymoron. Americans are blessed by not having a war on their land for so many years, like, senturies. This is why civilians like to talk so much.... This is why they have feeeelings for terrorists.
You are obvoiusly a civilian, sweet soft-hearted American.

What Bush is asking for is "child's play" when you
compare it to what Muslims are doing to their prisoners.
Bush only wants to use sleep depravation, loud music and
stuff like that. They cut off fingers, toes, nose, genitals,
and then shoot them at close quarters. Now, why are you
complaining about using some sort of interrogtion to get
information to protect this country? It seems too many of
you are on the side of Alcida terrorists. Traitors.

torture, the items they keep listing is nothing more than college prants in most cases, That is why he wants to get the law changed, People keep calling putting panties on peoples heads, or making them stand naked as torture, Colleges around the nation had better be getting raided for the torture on the campus, since they do alot worst.
So yes we need to stop the BS and let terrorist be alittle unhappy, so what if you bring a pig in thier cell, does that hurt them or harm them, No, can it make them talk, yes.

umm good for him. Do you really think those people care how you are treated? They plot to kill you everyday.I must disagree with the above post the restrictions we have, Were put in place to protect this country. I'm sorry to many people have died and if you fit the profile your going to be prosecuted. Sucks but blame the people who started this all in the first place.

You know, I'm not so sure I would focus my energy on protecting TERRORISTS...dont you think there are more important issues to fight for? Like helping orphans, the aged, the sick, and the poor? I wouldn't waste my time trying to help murderers or make others feel sorry for them...if Bush wants them to be tortured, I am COMPLETELY fine with that...not because Bush said so, but because they deserve it- dont get me wrong, I dont think that people should be tortured just for the heck of it, regardless of their actions, but if it is done for a purpose - like to get information that could save hundreds, if not thousands of lives of innocent men, women, and children, than I say it is A-OK.
