I'm not certain about a guinea pig, but a bunny is a lot of work -- yes, they are cute, yes they are fluffy, but rabbits are commonly misunderstood as 'easy pets'. They are certainly not pets for children as they need to be handled very gently and are very sensitive to changes in environment. A bunny can also be destructive; ie, pulling up carpet, marking territory [before it is the suitable age to become neutered/spayed] and can chew wires. It would your responsibility to ensure that you can provide the home that will keep both of you happy and the right medical attention. Rabbits normally live appx 8-12 years with good care. They are truly wonderful pets if you can devote the patience to get to know them!

I'm sure this goes for guinea pigs as well, but no one likes to eat canned food their whole lives -- you should be able to provide them both with fresh greens, (not just spinach either, you can refer to a long list of whats appropriate @ www.rabbit.org). Like people, animals can get sick of the same old thing all the time. I checked out this site and think it might be helpful to find some more info on guinea pigs -- I hear they are great pets too.

Good luck and hope you find the right pet for you!

My kids had both. Both make good pets but guinea pigs are easier to handle-smaller and lighter. The rabbit did live much longer than the guinea pigs though. I personally would chose the guinea pigs.

Guinea pig because it takes less space and food than a bunny.

Bunnies turn into rabbits, and they do not make good pets. They are large and want space to move around. They like to hop. I love guinea pigs and think they make wonderful pets. They seem happy to just stand around and weep.

I have had both, and BUNNIES are easy to litter box train like a cat. They are affectionate and will follow you around the house, also like a cat!
How ever, you cannot feed them Lettuce, Spinach only, not lettuce, and THEY do NIBBLE, at rubber type stuff, like sneakers, and electrical cords! Barbie noses are a favorite!
Guinea pigs, ALTHOUGH CUTE ARE NOT AS SMART , you cannot litter box train most of them, they do not live as long, and that weep weep weep noise is kind of annoying!

Careful with the bunnies, look them up on the internet, they can sometimes get a virus that stays in the area. We never ahd any luck with the bunnies, gave up on them. Get a rat.

Never heard of Guinea Pig Stew.

Get the rabbit. You'll enjoy it even after he's gone.

You could get a bunny and a guinea pig. They can live together as cagemates as long as you get them both when they're babies.
