For some reason I found myself watching the O'Reilly factor on Fox News the other day. I'd never watched it before and I could not believe my eyes. The entire show seemed to consist of him quoting people (comments from politicians, letters from viewers, etc), and then O'Reilly would basically say "This person IS wrong".
He doesn't even attempt to make any kind of intelligent debate. For example I remember one where a viewer sent in a letter saying something like "Why are you always putting the BBC down?", and then O'Reilly just said "The BBC IS biased, it IS anti-Israel, it IS pro-terrorist", and he didn't even attempt to explain why he thinks that, he didn't provide any evidence or anything.
I'm not saying he needs to provide data and quotes and other sources to back up everything he says. I just think he needs to change his style.
Do people actually watch this crap? Are there people out there who accept everything he says word for word? If so then that is very frightening.

I think the majority of you have missed the point of my question. Maybe if you'd actually read my question you'd have been able to give a better answer.

His news program is not objective news; it's commentary. That's why it has his name on it. However, he like some other commentators doesn't really bother to give both sides to an argument. He just tells it like HE sees it and trashes the other side.
He's contemptible!
Yes, and some people do take his opinions as fact because they are unable to think for themselves. Kind of like Rush Limbaugh's dittoheads.
I wouldn't worry about his little viewers because if they can't think for themselves, they probably can't do much else either.
Of course, there are commentators and dittoheads like that on the left; however, the leftist commentators seem to be a bit more intellectuaMF Conservatives like O'Reilly like the populist and most common denominator factor when they form their opinions.

Mr. O'Reilly was sued for alleged sexual harassment. In a perfect World he would be tagged as a sexual predator and perhaps jailed. However,he quietly settled for several millions. And this is the kind of person whose comments I will heed? No way. Everybody knows he is a Republican puppet and a hypocrite, anyway. He gets away with his views because he is at home with Fox TV (And everybody knows Fox is the official Bush channel)

Look, he understands the ratings war so he plays to the viewers. That's just the way he is. He's a little full of himself and he is a conservative. Of course the liberals will attack him at every turn and he knows that. So he does whatever he can to fire them up. Again, it's all about the ratings. Nothing personal. But don't under estimate him. He's a pretty bright guy.

Bill is carefull about distinguishing between what he reports as fact and what he states as his opinion. If you had watched more than one show you would know this. Instead it easier for you to attack him, especially i take it because he is so popular. His ratings are higher than all his competition combined. An *sshole like you would probably say that is because Americans are stupid. After all, that is what micheal Moore and Howard Dean keep saying. We will put you and all you libtards in your place come November and in '08 when we elect another Republican as president and further dismantle your liberal world.

He gets away with it the same way people on Yahoo Answers do, actually. I agree that Bill O'Reilly can be a little pig-headed, which is why I quit watching. I got tired of listening to him try to talk over everyone.

He has a news analysis show. He does not claim to report the news, just comment on it. He is the top rated show on the cable news networks. He is so strong that his 4am rebroadcast has better ratings than the 8pm Keith Oberland piece of crap show. Looks like you are the one out of touch with Americans.

Certain political factions or other groups can say whatever they think, and by virtue of the fact that they said it we are supposed to accept it as fact whether they have any information to back up there "OPINION" or not.
