I know little about any kind of computer. Recently bid on a laptop on auction site. Wifi ready, but does not come with the card. Does anybody out there know, have you ever bought one of those wifi cards for like $5.99 on the auction sites that claim to work? Thanks. And is 650mhx with intel III an okay laptop?

Opps. Should say 650 mhz processor. 6,000mb hard drive and 128000 kb memory. Is that an okay laptop?

No, I'm not gonna use it to play games. What does A is pretty useless B is okay mean? That 802 wifi card is what they're selling on the auctions (one guy somewhere referred to it as fleabay, which I thought was funny. Anyway, they claim these cheap wifi cards work just as well. So I'm trying to find out if anybody has bought one and if they really work. Thanks again. And if it matters, I bought a Compaq Armada?

Go to radio shack. they will explain to you what you need to do. you don't have to buy from them. Just get the explanation.

Get a wireless G 802.11 card. A is pretty useless. B is ok.

You computer will be fine for internet. You should be able to watch DVD's fine, too, if you have a DVD drive.

I use a couple old laptops, one slower than yours, and there is rarely need for more power unless you play games.

650mhz is pretty slow but ok for some things...unacceptable for me but it's not like mollasses.

My friend uses card, but I always get laptops with the cards built in. I wouldn't buy anything like a laptop that has that many electrical parts that are easily damaged off a auction site, nor reccomend it.

That is barely acceptable and will not play a lot of the new games. It is probably 10 to 12 years old.
