ok im in Algebra 1, too. All you have to do is: Leave change opposite x-2 so it becomes
x+(-2)
-2x<2x then the problem is solved and if its true and false the answer is true!

suppose u have 10 apples each on ur left and right side......
Then u take away 2 from ur left side & put 2 in ur left side....
which side will have lesser apples & which side will have more apples.... I think u know the answer now.
