Totally disagree, there are Atheists, Agnostics, Druids and 0ver 100 recognized religions in the US, none of them belong in Government. It would divide this country more than the Civil War, and add to political rift existing today
.In a sermon of October 1831, Episcopalian minister Bird Wilson said, "Among all of our Presidents, from Washington downward, not one was a professor of religion, at least not of more than Unitarianism." The Bible? Here is what our Founding Fathers wrote about Bible-based Christianity: Thomas Jefferson: I have examined all the known superstitions of the world, and I do not find in our particular superstition of Christianity one redeeming feature. They are all alike founded on fables and mythology. Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned. What has been the effect of this coercion? To make one half the world fools and the other half hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the earth.
James Madison: A just government, instituted to secure and perpetuate liberty, does not need the clergy.
Abraham Lincoln: "The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma."
Today, however, a fundamentalist minority seeks to tear down the wall between religion and state and make biblical precepts, not constitutional law, the highest authority governing American life.
Aided by a sympathetic Administration and members of Congress, the religious right has gained extraordinary power and influence. Their voices pervade the media, and they have pursued and attained political power with tenacity and skill, in the process drowning out real experts and credible voices of reason.
These fundamentalists are completely out of step with values held dear by the vast majority of Americans – values including freedom of conscience, tolerance, reason, and moderation.

Disagree. The Church, is just a business that sells Faith. In the United States, state laws can prohibit practices such as bigamy, sex with children, human and occasionally animal sacrifice, use of drugs, or other criminal acts, even if citizens claims the practices are part of their religious belief system. However, the federal courts give close scrutiny to any state or local laws that impinge upon the bona fide exercise of religious practices.
Many Western democratic nations place a high importance on the separation of the institutions of church and state. Some nations, such as the United States of America, Australia and Canada, even have specific clauses in their constitutions which are widely interpreted as forbidding the government from favoring one religion over another.
In addition, religious texts such as the Ten Commandments cannot be displayed in public buildings for the purpose of converting people to a religion. That is, religious people cannot display religious symbols on public property with the purpose of advocating their religion.
I think it would be wonderful if you get the "staff" tag put on your avatar, also.

Disagree, strongly. Separation is one of America's greatest strengths. I am free to practice any religion, or no religion, and it does not affect my civil rights or liberties. Religious freedom is the main basis upon which this country was founded.
I don't care what religion my neighbors or co-workers are.

If the government is ruled by the Church, being any other religion or belief can and probably will become illegal. Then the whole point of this country is gone.

I disagree wholeheartedly. I really don't need the government dictating to me what religion I must follow. That is between me and God. The government already wants to tap my phone line, take away my smoking privileges and they don't want me to bring lotion on an airplane. What more do they need?

Disagree. The church has its own set of moral standards. The state has its own one, too. If we join them together, it will be chaotic and nothing will ever get accomplished.

absolutely not!!!
I don't want the state to tell me what I should or shouldn't believe.
What would happen to all the people who want to practice a religion other than the religion of the state?
