Yes, the current White House administration wants to amend the Geneva Conference for the situation of the detainees (Guantanamo). This move, as stated by MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC and even Fox, is thought to be a pre-emptive move because if the Geneva Conference is NOT amended, Bush can be held DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for any mistreatment of the detainees (torture). "MSNBC is reporting that President Bush is accused of 32 alleged felonies relating to torture, extreme water torture, and various NSA violations, which means he would be able to be tried for war crimes. The Amendment of the Geneva Treaty (a change in the law to suit the president and all included) would be RETROACTIVE to cover the President's and his administration's butts. Where do you stand on this? Do you care? Do you even know? Either way, I will love hearing what you guys have to say (LOL!). Pro or Con. God Bless.

They are only digging themselves an ever deepening hole. What happens when they reach the pits of H***?
They change everything only to benefit their agenda. They have broken many of the laws that are put forth by the Geneva Convention. They blatantly ignored UN recommendations when they chose to invade Iraq.
I didn't realize that the current USA administration had the power to amend the rules of the Geneva Convention. Wouldn't other countries also have to be involved in these alterations to the original treaty?
All this has been building up for several years now. These violations were most likely one of the reasons Colin Powell resigned from his post, and making his stand against Bush. It will have a direct negative impact on our military forces as well, and not in a good way.
No one should be above the law, as Bush claims to be. Bush is no better than the man he removed from power in Iraq, now standing trial. You do the crime you do the time.

Bush is a manic depressed fool. His weapons of mass destruction has leaked the poisons into his mind and have clouded his judgment to make bad decisions. He is down right out of his mind, But I can somewhat imagine if I had to go through life cleaning up my fathers messes I would be a little unstable as well.

According to the Geneva Convention, combatants without
uniforms, and captured, are to be shot on the spot. Just when
did the Terrorist Orgs. sign the Treaty. They didn't, so don't sprout
out, babble. Use your brain, think for yourself, don't quote some
buffoon on some network. Use your head, its not just to keep
your ears apart.

If he condones water torture than he should be held responsible.
Of course, our enemy is cutting the heads off our prisoners.
From what I understand they just want to be able to get more than Name, rank, and serial number. I don't condon torture of any kind and it is not reliable anyway, because a person will say anything under torture.

His vision is short-sighted. Whatever standard the US sets will be followed by every other nation. Therefore, our citizens could easily be treated the same way or worse.

The acid test for these policies is to ask, if this treatment were how our troops would be treated if captured, what would you think of that?
Is it OK for Al Queda to water torture our guys?
