To take the question strictly as it is phrased the answer is yes, some stay at home moms don't work outside the home because they are lazy. As an employer, I can tell you that many people who DO work outside the home are also lazy. However, some women feel that their top priority is to keep the home and raise their children. They put the same energy and work into this assignment as they would put into an outside job. They trade a certain amount of money for the type of home life that they choose for their families. It is often said about the rich that they can "give a child a better life" than someone with less resources, but I couldn't disagree more with this premise. More dollars is not the same as a better life, and some of these stay at home moms are trading dollars for life quality. I think they are right, and while they are not as publicly recognized for their contribution to the family, they make an equal contribution to their husbands, at least.
