I went to an Irish bar near Chicago and some of the band were wearing kilts. My friend introduced me to the drummer, I had enough booze, sorry, bravery, to ask. He pulled his kilt up and then I thanked him for the information. ; )

The one man that I know that wears one has on some kind of shorts that are mid way his thigh. I was watching him two days ago while he was taking some stuff off a truck. He put something on this shoulders and I saw the white fabric against his leg. Some don't wear anything.
