I lived in Cupertino when I was a kid. There was a music store at the intersection of Steven's Creek Blvd. and Saratoga / Sunnyvale. I don't know if this road is still called that, but it's just west of Vallco Village, where I bought my trumpet when I attended Hyde Jr. High School 38 years ago. If this store is still there, you can probably get a flute there.

before you buy a new one try looking for one at a pawn shop, they are way cheaper.
