To Measure an Angle
Steps:
1. Find the center hole on the straight edge of the protractor.
2. Place the hole over the vertex, or point, of the angle you wish to measure.
3. Line up the zero on the straight edge of the protractor with one of the sides of the angle.
4. Find the point where the second side of the angle intersects the curved edge of the protractor.
5. Read the number that is written on the protractor at the point of intersection. This is the measure of the angle in degrees.
To Construct an Angle
Steps:
1. Use the straight edge of the protractor to draw a straight line. This line will form one side of your angle.
2. Find the center hole on the straight edge of the protractor.
3. Place the hole over one end point of the line you have drawn.
4. Line up the zero on the straight edge of the protractor with the line.
5. Make a mark at the number on the curved edge of the protractor that corresponds to the desired measure of your angle. For example, mark at 90 for a 90-degree angle.
6. Use the straight edge of the protractor to connect the mark to the end point of the first line, forming an angle.

If you are using it for something like a pie graph, simply make a circle (if you don't have one first) and then cover about half of the circle with the protractor facing right-side up. Then, start at zero and pt a dot on the measurement you want to make. Then, draw aline from about the middle of the circle to the point you drew.
It maw be helpful to draw a straight line through half the circle before you begin.

A protractor is use to draw angles correctly without guessing.
You put it on you work sheet straight ( horizontally ) and find the proper angel you are looking for and make a point mark.
then move it and use the straight edge of it to draw the line out as far as you need it .

Depending on what kind of protractor, it depends. Essentially you start from the middle small hole, and a straight line of some kind- a scale, a tack with a thread on it, and you measure the angles.

If the base of the angle (where u put the flat side of the protractor) is on the left, use the set of numbers that starts with 0 on the left. Do the opposite if the base of the angle is on the right.
